Climate-robust design: toward a Weerbaar Dommelland
Belgian and Dutch organisations are joining forces for a resilient Dommelland (Weerbaar Dommelland). Flanders Environment Agency (VMM), the Dommel Water Board, the municipality of Eindhoven, the Museum Eindhoven foundation, the province of North Brabant, the city of Peer, the municipality of Pelt and the municipality of Valkenswaard are working together across borders in order to create a climate-robust and resilient water system in the Dommel Valley.

The project aims to improve the reliability of the software which manages critical infrastructure such as storm surge barriers. Specifically, it focuses upon delivering customised solutions which can be implemented by authorities.

Working together for the return of the European otter
The European otter, a European protected animal species, is making a tentative return to the border region between Flanders and the Netherlands. This is good news for biodiversity, and it provides opportunities for improving our water quality and wetlands. With the "Otter across the border" project, we want to create a cohesive metapopulation of otters, connecting Flanders and the southern Netherlands with other European otter populations.

Speeding up to water resilience: insights from the European Water Conference
On March 12, the European Water Conference took place in Leuven, under the title "Speeding up to a water resilient Europe". Over 200 policy makers and water sector experts from across Europe participated in this event, organized by the Flemish Environment Agency (VMM) as part of the Belgian EU Presidency. The conference offered valuable perspectives and insights on water resilience in Europe.
