Air Quality in the Flemish Region 2014

Dec 17, 2015
Flanders is meeting many of the European air quality targets, for the first time also for particulate matter. Nonetheless, further efforts are needed for even better protection of public health. This can be read in the new report 'Air Quality in the Flemish Region in 2014'

Our figures confirm that air quality in Flanders is systematically improving, but still not enough for our health. Quite a number of guideline values of the World Health Organisation (WHO) are still far out of reach. Road traffic continues to have a major impact on air quality with high nitrogen oxide and black carbon concentrations in particular.  Also substances for which no assessment framework is available but which are relevant to health, such as ultrafine particulate matter, are addressed in the report.
