LYSE project helps build new bypass for the Heulebeek
The region of the Lys and Yser rivers is highly urbanised and the municipalities have to deal with the considerable risks of flooding. The LYSE project wants to move towards integrated management of the flood risk through a number of cross-border measures. As part of this project, VMM is building a bypass that redirects the Heulebeek waterway around the town centre of Heule.

TOPSOIL maps salinization in coastal- and polder area in Flanders
From 18 July onwards Flanders Environment Agency (VMM) will investigate the salinization of the groundwater in coastal- and polder areas in Flanders. The investigation will be taken airborne, as all the information required will be collected during helicopter flights.

Publication ECMAScript program RIPARIAS: Invasive alien crayfish species – Identification and best management practices
The European LIFE RIPARIAS project focuses on the management and control of different invasive alien aquatic and riparian plants and invasive alien crayfish species. To help field workers recognize these invasive species, the project developed guides with useful visual identification sheets.
