STAR2Cs
STAR2Cs: what and why?
Global warming will undoubtedly bring with it more frequent and more severe flooding. We therefore need to act now in order to have a chance of mitigating the consequences of future flooding of our waterways, ecosystems, communities and economies. The Member States have developed national adaptation strategies to identify the measures that are needed. Local authorities and regional agencies, however, are finding it challenging to take tangible adaptation measures. STAR2Cs wants to help bridge that gap.
STAR2Cs: objective?
STARS2Cs will provide a cross-border solution that supports stakeholders with the implementation of adaptation measures. This solution consists of:
- 1 e-tool (Adaptation Catalyst) to identify and assess mechanisms, so that the changes that are carried out are aligned to local scenarios
- 1 knowledge- and capacity-building service to strengthen the ability and readiness of stakeholders to participate in ‘future-proof’ decision-making
- 8 implementation paths that identify cost-effective and integrated short-term actions in order to implement adaptations in eight pilot areas
- 1 method to evaluate the success of STAR2Cs and a guideline to put the STAR2Cs solution into practice
